Design tweaks, new technology and safety features for Alfa QVs
The 2020 range-topping Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models have received a number of improvements reflecting the changes freshly made to the standard cars, the high-performance duo profit from new technology, design and safety enhancements to bring them up to par with its rivals from Mercedes and BMW.
The exterior changes are slight, but comprise of new LED rear light clusters with dark lenses and gloss black detailing. A 21in alloy wheel option has been added to the Stelvio, FCA’s parts and accessories arm, Mopar, has designed a new carbon fibre front grille, along with carbon fibre mirror caps and a carbon fibre spoiler. There are also three new paint colours announced: 6C Villa d’Este Red, GT Junior Ocra and Montreal Green.
Alterations inside are more vast, a redesigned centre console with a leather wrapped gear shifter with bright accents and Italian flag, also premium rotary knobs and dial materials, and improved storage.
The most substantial addition is a new infotainment system with an 8.8in touchscreen, connected services and a new interface. The Quadrifoglio models profit from a novel Performance Pages menu that provides real-time data on power and torque usage, component temperatures and turbo boost pressure.
More tweaks include swapping the carbon fibre-style trim on the steering wheel and gear selector for leather with stitching, the option of red or green seatbelts. Perforated leather upholstery is now optional, too.
Technology improvements involve a Bosch-developed system that offers Level 2 autonomous features. This includes Traffic Jam and Highway Assist, along with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition.
Power from the 2.9-litre V6 remains the same at 503bhp and 443lb ft of torque sent to the rear wheels of the Giulia and all four wheels of the Stelvio. Alfa Romeo has added the option of a dual-mode titanium Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon fibre tailpipes.
