Special edition Nismo variant returns with 591bhp
The Nissan GT-R has been updated but keeps its overall look, only noticeable from a few styling tweaks on the front bumper, revealed on stage at the Tokyo motor show, the key changes have been made under the bonnet, powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with an output of 562bhp and 469 lb ft of torque in standard guise. However, the range-topping Nismo cars produce 591bhp and 414lb ft.
All cars are four-wheel drive, a GR6 dual-clutch transmission and Recaro sports seats feature. The exhaust sound has also been modified to keep up with certain sound regulations.
Other adjustments are to the brakes, transmission, and an aim to improve ride comfort with reductions in noise and vibration.
The top spec GT-R Nismo features know-hows pinched from the motorsport division. The aerodynamics have been improved with some modified carbon fibre intakes, carbon fibre bonnet and altered wheel arches.
The new GT-R Nismo also profits from weight-balanced engine parts, consisting of a new crankshaft, piston rings and connecting rods.
The new GT-R will go’s sale in Japan in the spring, The more powerful Nismo version will debut later in the year. No word yet on whether the new cars will make it on sale in and around Europe.
